A brief review: South Beach Wine and Food Festival

Delicious. Superbly organized. And so much fun! There it is, that's my review. If you ever get the chance to head to Miami for the South Beach Wine and Food Festival (SOBEWFF), do it!

Alright, I'll give you a little more information than that, for a more complete review and additional photos, see below.

I'm not lying when I say that the festival was run like a well-oiled machine. We attended two different events, one on Friday night and one on Saturday night as part of our Party Animal Package 2 ($170 per person.) Friday night's event was themed Medianoches & Mixology and was sponsored by Botran's Rum. The medianoches (or what you might know as a Cuban sandwich) were absolutely delicious. My favorite one that I tasted all night was from Latin House. They made a delicious variation of the Cuban sandwich served on pineapple bread with champagne mustard. Couldn't you just die imagining how delicious that would be? It basically melted in my mouth it was so soft and flavorful. If this isn't on their regular menu it needs to be. I'd go back to Florida for that alone.

There were plenty of bars set up where you could get a signature cocktail or mixed drink featuring different Botran rums. There also was an art exhibition that featured graffiti and murals on garage doors and a special exhibit featuring work by Peter Tunney.

The Saturday event was "Emeril Lagasse and Sammy Hagar's Rockin' Beach Party" presented by Sammy's Beach Bar Rum and Cabo Wabo Tequila and sponsored by Del Monte Fresh Produce. The event was right on South Beach, like, on the sand and featured a huge tent with lots of tastings available, tons of bars and soft-seating areas, and a huge stage and live band. All of the food came from Versailles Cuban Restaurant and was delicious. One of my favorite features of this event was that you got a little esurance bracelet and at every food station you could tap your bracelet, rate the food on a little touchscreen and then after the event, go online and get the recipes for all of the food that you tried! This event was a little more crowded than the previous night but still not packed to the point that you couldn't get around. I wish I took more photos of the food and drinks that we sampled over the weekend but the truth is I was too busy shoveling it into my mouth to stop and photograph it.

I'd love to go back again and try some of the other events as well. They have a Oyster Bash, a Burger Bash, Cigars & Spirits, wine tastings and more. Tickets are a bit pricey, but based on what I saw this year the entire festival is well-run and they have plenty of food and drink to go around.

And below are some other photos from our time in Florida!
