Boston friends visit Philadelphia

Two of our dearest friends decided to pay Philadelphia a visit this past weekend. BryGuy and I get a little anxious about these situations, we feel so much pressure to show people a fabulous time when they visit because we want them to love Philly as much as we do! All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. The weather decided to cooperate on Saturday so we took them on a little walking tour of Old City and then had some drinks outdoors (hey, it's what we do best).

In the evening, we ventured over to La Viola for some delicious Italian food and polished off four bottles of wine and quite a few beers and made our way to a few establishments for dancing and socializing.

On Sunday we awoke, feeling not so hot, but we headed out for some brunch at Cafe Lift followed by some much needed couch and movie time. Then sadly, we took our friends to the airport and wished them farewell, we can't wait to see them again in September!

Classic Barry, that Commodor is always so silly.

I spied this handsome fellow hanging out on a park bench.

After historical walking tour we decided that we needed to get some liquid nourishment. We headed over to Morgan's Pier and ordered up some margaritas and food.

While waiting for our drinks to arrive, I picked out my yacht.

I was really impressed with Morgan's Pier, it's beautifully situated on the water with a great view of the Ben Franklin Bridge, the Delaware, and Camden. The place is huge! There are two different bar areas and tons of seating. I've heard nights can get a little crowded there so I would definitely suggest it during a nice sunny day.

This chick was so cool. I want to grow up to be like her. I heart the mixed polka dot prints and pinup hair style.

I don't think anyone was overly impressed with the food, but it did the trick and held us over until dinner. I had a lobster and bibb lettuce salad. The dressing was nice, but in my opinion these things can always use more lobster chunks. BryGuy and one of our guests both ordered the barbecue pulled pork sandwich. I was surprised by the orangey color of the barbecue sauce but the flavor was decent. Our other guest ordered the burger and unfortunately his patty was a little sad... The cheese croquettes were good, but not a large helping, and the fries were delicious.

After we ate, we decided to get some ice cream for the road from Little Baby's Ice Cream Tricycle. This ice cream was amazing, they have really unique flavors! I tried the bourbon bourbon vanilla (you could definitely taste the bourbon) they also had speculoos flavor, chipotle chocolate, smoked cinnamon, and some others I can't remember.

If you're visiting Philly, and you can't have BryGuy and I as your personal tour guides, take a look at my Philadelphia To Do, See, and Eat List

  1. Yeah I also tried bourbon bourbon vanilla multiple times. Its taste is really amazing. It is most favorite Ice Cream flavor of my entire family. First time we try the Bourbon Bourbon Ice cream before long time during the boston to Washington DC tours . We always remember this tour due to the delicious taste of the Ice cream.
